FrontierVille is a pretty basic game and everybody who has a computer and some experience in handling it will certainly have no problems in playing Zynga’s latest title. However, since there are some goodies you might just miss in the game if you’re not paying too much attention, I’m creating this beginner’s guide on how to play FrontierVille.
What are the basics of FrontierVille and what’s your goal in the game?
FrontierVille seems to be a “never-ending story” like all social games: your objective is to complete given goals ranging from planting crops to getting married, while also making sure that the plot of land you own is danger-free, looks great and can become a thriving town in the future.
The game is played using the mouse only using a very intuitive control method: simply clicking an item will perform the appropriate action (e.g. clicking an animal will feed it or collect from it, depending on the case; clicking a tree will cut it; or clicking a building will open up a new menu).
In the lower right corner of the playing screen, as pictured below, you have some extra control options: the My Tools section which allows you to move, rotate or delete completely any item, the shortcut to the market where you can buy all sorts of goodies, from crops to decorations and finally the the My Stuff section or your backpack.
Once clicked, the My Stuff button will open up a new window where you can check out your gifts, family album (where you can customize your avatar), the inventory and the collections.
You will also need to perform all sorts of actions around your plot of land, which will give you in return experience, coins and different consumables or collectibles. Here are the actions you can perform:
- Clear the grass, wildflowers, skulls and rocks around
- Chop down trees to collect wood
- Plant and harvest crops to get coins and food
- Build buildings with the help of your neighbors
- Scare or Clobber animals that come by
- Help your neighbors
Pretty soon you’ll be an expert at playing FrontierVille and you’ll most likely become highly addicted to it. But it’s OK, we all are!

Have you placed your Wagon yet? That’s the only reason I can think of for such a strange error message…
i have a wagon… only i try to click cusotmize or go inside… nothing happens… this article doesnt help with anything – i just signed up about 5 minutes ago, used all my energy and cant get it back, except for waiting, which is a pain the behind!

what you have to do is :
1)click on add bookmark above the game screen
2)like the game
3)refresh the page
and the game works

Diane – Do you mean your avatar? The little person that represents you in the game? You can retrieve them by going into the my stuff screen, then clicking on the family album, then clicking on customize under their picture. Then a screen will come up to customize them, but if you just click play, then it selects that avatar for you to play with. So then you can click somewhere on your screen that you can see and the little guy will come walking out from whatever tree or building they are hiding behind! You can also buy a dinner bell, but what fun is that! Hope that helps.

you need to design your avatar try refreshing the page then click custom then dress ur person then push play….. it just worked 4 me
so far im 50/50. i love this but at the same time i hate it. probably my biggest pet peeves are…
1-when visiting and helping a neighbor when ur done using ur last piece to help them u have two choices, cancel the post it gives u to share a bonus with friends and race back to ur screen to collect ur goodies before theyre gone (ur coins, xp, pie, collection pcs, wood, etc) or miss out on the goodies and share the bonus to post it to ur news feed for others. by the time i get done posting that bonus or sending something to certain people, when i get back to the land rather mine or my neighbors, those goodies are gone.
2-while tending to my land it gives me the window to go help so-and-so’s land. when i get to their land it says i cant help them.
3-similar to number 1, while tending to my land, (since im new here) say i have 10 energy, when i use my last one i get the pop ups saying im out of energy to ask for more and another one i cant remember what it says, i have 2 choices to make, close the popups to get back to my land and claim my xp and coins or whatever goodies i got from clearing or chopping or risk losing those just to ask for help.
im still gonna give this a shot, but i will probably lay this game down and find something else to do.

When I try to visit neigbor, it pops up that all the bonuses for today, I had not visit them that day, or after it restarts???

FrontierVille is like a story, do the missions in order and try not to get ahead of yourself.
HINT: The blanks have something to do with getting your child.
When I level up my max energy does not increase but when my husband levels up it increases his max energy. Should my energy be increasing when I level up?

When I try to move something it wont stay there, how do I make it stay? Would appreciate any help as I am fairly new at this game. Also why do we need so much stuff to expand?
I am also new to the game. So after you finish chopping down some trees, the very next day they start growing back. How do you make them not grow back, or is this just part of the game. Because it takes up all my energy just to chop them down.
Mary, trees (and grass, wildflowers, etc.) will grow back when they have an open area to do so…it’s part of the game. There are several missions that will require you to clear grass/wildflowers/cactus/skulls/etc. or chop trees, so you don’t want to completely clear your frontier anyway. And once you build the sawmill, you’ll get bonus wood from any trees you have on your frontier when you collect the bonus from it each day. You need wood to make fires and planks, which are sometimes needed for missions, too. Have fun!

these games are resigned to suck you in to paying real money in order to get anywhere. you can get lots of energy if you pay real money. these games sux
peopl who are new to frontierville and are have your person sayh i cannot do that yet. when you first started played did you follow the directions exactly or go off and do you own thing?
what is the first, second, third and fourth thing you do when starting this game? I feel like a 1st grader. Never had issues with Farmville, but I dont get this at all.
I also have “cannot do that yet” problem, I’m stuck in my inventory at this very moment. Oh, and if I have to like the game and make a bookmark in order to solve the problem, then the problem doesn’t have to be solved EVER, as far as I’m concerned. The game has even more issues now tnan it used to have a year ago, so I honestly don’t expect any of the problems to be solved without creating new one(s).
NEW; it says “I can not do that yet”….read through this–I “liked” refreshed…nothing….I have no “quests” I can not click the character to customize it….everything I click says “i can not do that yet” i can not click the avatar or the wagon or any of the options at the bottom. I even checked the flash player and updated that! still nothing!!! This game sucks!
