Howdy, pardners! As you probably know already, Zynga has released the Chicken Coop Expansion in FrontierVille and coyotes are on their way too, meaning that the mechanic of feeding chickens in the game has changed and therefore the “XP cheat” that was used until now with chickens has been also minimized.
The nice thing is that now you can store chickens inside the chicken coop and feed them daily. But in order to do so, you will need to consume energy: 1 per each chicken, so if you have 100 chickens stored inside, you will need 100 energy points to feed them all.
Do you really have to store your chickens inside the chicken coop? NO! You can still collect the daily bonus at no energy cost and continue feeding all the chickens on the homestead. However, there is a great risk of losing all your chickens to the coyotes (which, once introduced, will simply steal the chickens from your homestead!). But it’s up to you to decide, in the end, if you risk losing them or place them safely in the coop.
But let us know what will you do: store the chickens or keep them on the homestead for the daily bonus?
Hmmmm, I’d have to see how this works because I can still get the bonus from each chicken coop but if I’d have to pay energy in order to feed/attend them………I would not store them in the chicken coop. I think I would raise chicks to adult chickens outside the chicken coop, move them into the chicken coop and see if I can still collect the bonus aka ‘feed/tend’ to them. I’d have to say that if that wouldnt work that this new feature would not benefit the game at all.
Actually I think this is smart way to minimize the “cheat” and I will store my chickens in the coop. This will in my opinion benefit the game.
If you believe that this new feature will ‘benefit’ anything, you have not been playing Zynga games such as Mafia Wars, Cafe World, Farmville, Frontierville et.al. for very long.
Watch Zynga charge you like 50 – 100 horseshoes just to get past the energy problem. Either that or you will see that annoying pop-up encouraging you to spend horseshoes to buy energy every time you run out. Of course, you might not have enough horseshoes so then you have to run to the checking or debit account for more!
Zynga are bastards. They are also idiots. I deleted the groundhog trap when I accidentally placed it where I didn’t want to and couldn’t move it. I gave up on kissing tree because of the requirement of two non-playing friends needed to start playing to send you a box of chocolates. I’ve faced multiple Zynga disappointments way before then starting around July-September 2009 in Mafia Wars.
This company stinks.
I love it, this’ll teach the cheaters, om nom nom to their chickens. Why do people need to gain levels so badly anyway it’s pointless.
I wasn’t even aware that anyone was cheating when they claimed the bonus from their chicken coops and it fed the outside chickens as well. I just thought it was normal game play. It has been there as far as day one so I am assuming that Zynga knew about a long time before they decided to apply the “fix,” to it. Get over it!
Am I still cheating? Zynga have apparently fixed the “cheat” and yet when I collect from the coop it also feeds my outside chickens.
Chicken coop bonus much like the sawmill bonus.. the coop will feed all chickens on frontier without energy loss including chicken in the coop. just used bonus on all three of my coops. There are some prior blogs about chicken/coops look them up..good info. The Sawmill will give you wood for any and all remaining trees on your frontier.
Why do so many people think having a lot of coops is cheating?? It’s a way to level up quickly. I say more power to ‘em. Level up quickly and send me lots of dinners. I’ll be enjoying my time on the prairie and they will be feeding… and feeding… and feeding………
i think its haveing all of chickens and coops looks tacky but its not my farm . if u have alot of chickens and ya my neighbor i just delete ya. i dont need to lev up fast whats the rush it stop at lev150 anyways
Once again, I am not getting credit where I should! I have tended up to 30 adult chicken and have had it revert back to 0 everytime I come back on my frontier! FIX YOUR STUPID GLITCHES ZYNGA!!!!

@ Heather – The glitch is the coops. Take them back out of the coops, feed them, finish the mission and then stick them back in. I speak from the experience of feeding mine in coop 6 times before I put 2 & 2 together.
@Vicktoria – You are feeding the inside ones too. All of mine are in coop but one and I am still getting the same amount of XP & coin I always got. Feeding them outside of the coop bonus using energy just gives you more feedings than you were getting per day otherwise.
