I was actually shocked when I saw about 20 e-mails in my inbox with titles like HELP, Problem or Salsa not dropping – I thought that the blog was down. But apparently, not the blog is down, but the rate at which salsa is rewarded to players when harvesting tomatoes in FrontierVille is down or at least really low.
As you probably know, you need to collect no less than 60 Salsa to complete the Pecos Bill’s Hungry Horse mission in the game, but it’s not a job as easy to complete as we’ve expected: some players are complaining that the salsa drop rate on their homestead is extremely low (up to NO salsa dropped after harvesting 100 tomatoes), while others are reporting that they only get around 6 salsa dropped after 100 harvests.
I personally find it pretty difficult do get the salsa, but I didn’t actually count the tomatoes I have planted – I am still at 44 so it means that I’m not doing great either.
However, I just wanted to let you all know that it’s not a FrontierVille problem or bug and Salsa is dropping from harvesting tomatoes, but it drops (at least for some) rarely. Don’t lose your hope, though and keep harvesting those tomatoes!
What about you? Are you having any problems with the Salsa drop rate in FrontierVille?
got it finished but i had to plant about 2500 tomatoes to get the 33 i needed ( i had 27 before i started
Not a problem, I needed about 30 and the salsa dropped with about every tomato I harvested
I have to collect 90 salsas and nothing yet. Have the same problem with the corn bristles. Never got to collect them. One other thing I don’t like is the requirement to comment on posts when you are returning help requests. Actually thinking of quitting the game.
I have harvest over 2000 tomatoes and only got 13 salsa
Salsa is slow enough to get,but the report bug, refresh is getting out of hand. Planted 80-100 tomatos and used withered boost, went for thanksgiving dinner, came back had 3 plants. Replanted numerous times and bug n refresh so had to start over again. Same with harvesting cherry trees, On my profile there is 6 times posted that I finished cherry master. Uses the Quick Mc Draw or whatever it is,(5 at 1 time) had to refresh so many times I lost about at least 15 minutes out of the hour you have for that? About ready to give up, for all the time I spend, and have to do everything 2-3 times to get credit for 1, if your lucky, don’t know if it is worth it. I enjo the game, but am very frustraded.

The drop rate seems very low; however, there are 5 items in the Tomato Collection. Not every harvest is going to necessarily drop anything for the Tomato Collection.
I currently have: 47 Fried Tomatoes, 39 Tomato Sauces, 54 Salsas, 56 Tomato Soups, and 19 Ketchup Bottles. I started with 48 Salsas. I would think if Zynga is touching the drop rate, Salsa would be a lot lower than the others. Ketchup Bottles are low. In many cases, the final item of a collection is harder to get.
Obviously, once this mission is done, it will look skewed, since Salsa will be at 0.
I do think that sometimes Zynga plays around with the drop rate (i.e., usually makes it worse, unless enough people complain, and then they make it better
), but I suspect this is a typical drop rate. We just didn’t notice it before!
P.S. Care Packages can give you Salsa.
I had around 20 salsas before I started the mission and surely I harvested over 3,000 tomatoes to have all 60 salsas. Let’s say it cost me 4 raging buffalo potion and 2 quick draw quaff to help me harvest all this tomatoes without going crazy….
Have the same problem with salsa as with the 30 wolves out on the trail. Sometimes I can go through 50 energy on the trail and not a single wolf, other times I’ll get 4 wolves with 20 energy. Same thing with salsa and tomatoes. If they arent dropping, I wait and give it a shot again later.
salsa is NOT dropping for me on my tomato harvests
i harvest more than 100 tomatoes and i got 2 salsa drops puff it is nog easy
wolfs is the same 25 energy and i get maybe 1 wolf
This is annoying. I’ve along time ago 10 salsa and I can’t increase them. How long to reach 60 if I harvest more than 100 tomatoes and I still have the same 10?
It’s supposed to be a gamer to have fun but some jobs aren’t (quite) impossible to overpass

Well again i tried to do this mission and every time i think i’m half way thru report bug comes up. BUT i cant get in my to finish anything any way.
Hi ppl don`t give up hope i have nothing left to do on my frontier until they give us new missions but i have complained on numerous occasions about not getting raw sugar from sugarcane and they gave me 150 as a gift so maybe you shud complain more
I harvested over 100 tomatoes yesterday and got 4 salsas. Today I harvested about 75 and go another 5. At this rate, I will not be able to complete the mission. I did send a complaint to them…let’s see what happens. I’ll also request care packages…thanks for the suggestions!
I just figured it is Zynga’s way of getting us so frustrated that we buy horseshoes to ‘pay off’ the mission that way. FAT CHANCE. I’m not one to buy horseshoes. If I don’t earn them, I don’t use them. Fortunately I have some great neighbors that have responded to my wish list for salsa.
Well to be fair, it’s part of the tomato collection, and collection items drop kinda rarely anyway.
laura i tried the care packages (used 66 of them) and not a single salsa dont think i will be able to finish this mission unless i were to sit on computer for the next 3 days
The care packages should work; however, note the following:
1) Salsa may need to be added to your wish list;
2) For best results, nothing else should be on your wish list;
3) If you have buildings that haven’t been built yet, care packages may give you building materials instead of Salsa. For example, I had a half built well, and I couldn’t get Salsa until that was finished;
4) You can only get Salsa out of a care package every few hours or so. If you use a care package and no Salsa drops, try one or two more care packages, and then wait a few hours and try again.
I harvested over 160 tomato plants only to get 9 salsas. I emailed Zynga to ask for suggestions in light of the fact that I would not be able to finish the challenge in the alloted time at the rate the salsas were falling. They gifted me with 50 salsas to help me out and that was not what I asking for…although I’ll take it!
Zynga recently changed the requirement to 10 salsa!
changed to 10 when i got to 55 and harvested a million tomatoes using thousands of food to do it!!!! WTH !!!
