The little (or bigger) FrontierVille varmints are really annoying, especially when you run out of energy and they decide to pop up, ruining your plans of harvesting the last crop or chicken. Still… did you know that you can prevent varmints from appearing on your homestead? Personally I didn’t, but FrontierVille fan Zazo shared this secret with us.
What you see in the picture above is a little groundhog that has been clobbered to the “safe spot,” next to the kitchens which are harvested with the help of a chicken co-op. This means that the groundhog doesn’t do too much harm and it can be left there, right?
Well, it appears that if you leave a varmint on your homestead – wherever you feel like – it will prevent others from appearing!
So it’s pretty simple if you wish to prevent other varmints like groundhogs, snakes, bears or foxes from appearing: simply leave one around and don’t scare it away nor clobber it and no extra ones will appear.

Hey! I would say that this is not true… I left a bear on my homestead, but unfortunately didn’t prevent 2 foxes and a snake from appearing. So I’m afraid this trick isn’t available anymore
Alex it’s only for a type of animal you can have all 4 types at the same time but you can’t have two of the same kind
If you have a lot of crops you leave a ground hog, if you have a lot of geese and chickens you leave a fox somewhere (usually it’s realyy easy to get them from one end to another in one clobber) and for the bears and snakes it’s the same way

I found this out a week ago and you can have 1 of every varmint active but takes up lots of room. Remember you can MOVE your crops and animals. If you have 3 energy left and need to harvest those last crops move them, harvest, and leave the bugger alone. I wish they would fix the problem varmints disappearing under trees etc that’s what annoys me the most.
Can anyone tell me how to get a fox that is in the middle of my grove of fruit trees? I can’t move the trees, can’t cut them down, and it takes double energy to harvest the trees
Try zooming in or out and slowly moving the mouse around the fox… eventually you should hit the right spot and be able to clobber it…
Unfortunately, it is possible to have a varmint hidden behind dense trees that can’t be clobbered. It’s no fun to chop to find it at 2x energy. Instead, hire your neighbors or ask them to help with a “fox hunt”. Neighbors aren’t penalized energy, and often like the extra wood.
This is not true.
I have 2 bears on my homestead right now. Both within the same area.

There is a glitch in the program.
The 2 bears appear, but then the box saying the internet connection is lost appears and when you go back in the second bear is gone. Chop the tree again and it reappears only to have the internet connection lost again.
I even tried to close the homestead and reopen it and the second bear is gone, but chop the tree and it reappears only to have the internet connection lost again and I have to restart over again.
Guess I will have to scare the other bear in order to continue to chop that tree..
YOU HAVE TO GET ALL THE ANIMALS THAT COME TO FRONTIERS VILLE AND CLOBBER THEM OUT THE WAY, BUT DON’T SCARE THEM OFF. LEAVE THEM IN A PLACE WHERE U CAN STILL DO WHAT U NEED TO DO AND NO MORE WILL COME BACK. THAT IS ONE OF EACH. I HOPE THIS HELPS EXPLAIN IT BETTER,
I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH TWO BEARS AT ONE TIME. I THINK IT IS A CLITCH IN THE GAME, BUT FV HAS BEEN WORKING ON A FEW ISSUE’S
