Finally, the Home for Retired Animals is the last FrontierVille mission you’ll have to complete in the New Years Resolution series and you’ll be one step closer to bagging in some amazing rewards. In this article I have all the details you need to know in order to complete this brand new mission!
Let’s start with its description: “You’ve been playing this crazy game for some time now, and the animals keep stacking up. Time to send them off to greener pastures, and reap the rewards of all that faithful clickin’!” In other words, here is what you need to do in order to complete the Home For Retired Animals mission in FrontierVille:
- Sell 50 Adult Oxen
- Sell 50 Adult Pigs
- Sell 50 Adult Goats
That’s 150 animals you probably don’t have, so make sure you buy them and start feeding them as soon as you read this, so that you’re ready to sell them when you unlock the mission. Good luck and congratulations for being part of one of the biggest mission series in FrontierVille!

I love frontierville and all the Missions and Quest they present to us..I kept repeating the Christmas Missions
But I am sadly to say.. The bonuses on these missions are crappy and I will not repeat them..I played the first 2 twice in hopes I would get something better in the crates… Nope…
i like to play frontierville and all the missions, but sad to say that “Ask Friends” sometime don’t show up to friends… due to the new profile of FB, seems so odd and nasty.. A friend says, almost all missions finished, but the goal which have the Ask Friends… (baby sitting, can’t appear visible to her neighbors how can I help her? ) in a way, sometimes , i felt lazy to play it again and again…
… I want to help a friend whose a Frontierville fanatic, shes into trouble posting her request, I can’t find her request on her profile, (shes in trouble “Ask Friends” ) , shes almost done almost the New Year goals.. but sad.. how can she.. if this her problem.. and imagine it need 40 horseshoes, to unlocked.. so nasty…. sometimes, just don’t like play if all quest have to be this problem..
I have completed all 6 missions ans never recieved my 50 horseshoes whats up ?
Completed all six missions late last night and have still not received the fifty horseshoes. How do we get them?
After you complete all your missions open your badges. You get a badge for completing all the missions. Once you open it you’ll get the horseshoes.
You’ll also get the “Book of Experience” in your inventory. It will level you up 1 FULL LEVEL so, use it wisely. Preferably, right after you advance one level, use the book.

By my calculations, it seems impossible to complete all 6 quest “chains” before the jan 14th cutoff, unless you use boosts or knew ahead of time of the quest. The impossibility comes from the quest that begins with you playing 5 days in a row, then is followed by raising 50 pig/goat/oxen to adult and selling. Lets analyze:
Quests out jan 7th. If you dont use horseshoes to pay to skip the 5 days, then that quest will be complete on jan 11, with 4 remaining days to do the animal raising. If you did not know about the 2nd quest beforehand, even if you had 49 adult oxen on your farm, you still have to raise 1. Oxen take 7 feedings, 18 hours apart to reach adulthood. So 6 * 18 (6 because you can feed them right away) is 108 hours, which translates to 4.5 days, which puts you over your alloted time for the 50 horseshoes (and thats even assuming you feed them right at the 18 hour mark, which, most people will delay a feeding due to sleep)
Meaning, you would have either needed 1, to have all 50 adult or near adult oxen on your farm (and who has 50?), 2, buy your way through with horseshoes (either via boosts, or to immediately complete the mission portions, or 3, know what the mission was beforehand, so you could start raising them while you have the play 5 days in a row mission.
This just seems like a scam to me by zynga, to get you to buy horseshoes, in order to get the 50 horseshoe award. Nertz to that.

I love the game,but had to give up on the 50HS.. Sad but I also feel like it’s a scam.
No point in buying HS to buy the boosts to get back less HS that I used to get the oxens ready..
Let us get bigger homesteads and then we might have room for 50 (150) animals.
Oh and why do I feel that now that I’ve used all my energy I had put aside,sold all my animals,
and used all my collections,do I feel like the next quests will ask for those items??

i was wondering the retired animal mission that is now going on . i don’t think it’s fair how the shorten day was set when the oxen will not be ready in time from when the mission started . in order to get the free horse shoes.
I was able to finish the last of the six missions in time and get my 50 hs by trading in bear collection over and over to get animal ready boosts to grow my animals from babies to adulthood. Took a lot of trading in but it got the job done!
yes it is disappointing…i found out the missions should be finished by th 14th 3 days before that, when i read the message in green.. so i just gave up too… very very unfair.. they should have said that from the day the missions were announced.. they should either extend it with a couple of days or many people will be disappointed..
Hmm I dont know if you know this but everyone on frontierville who has completed the Chain Quests the reward will not be given before 1Feb thats also the time of days you have to complete this (Hated) Mission. Thus, the reward will not be given before or after 1Feb also (scamming) Zynga has changed the reward from 50 to 20 Horsehoes that scammers
I completed the mission on 1-14-2010 and got my badge from the lodge and got my 50 horseshoes. I am trying it a second time to see if I get more horseshoes but I doubt it because they are not getting a green check on them like last time. This is not a scam
I finished all six quests by 1-14-11 and didn’t get my horseshoes either. I got the book and the thats it. @ Ventanius, I also noticed that the prize went from 50 down to 20. So now I’m wondering whats gonna happen.
Is anyone else having the problem of Home for Retired Animals not registering when you sell oxen? How do I fix this?
I finished it on the 15th(13hrs too late and got 20HS.
Thing is,I sold 51 oxens but still it showed I was short 1.. (I always do a few more in case,so I know I did not miscount)
I then had to buy the 1 missing for 4 HS.. coughscamcough
Got the book and all,but still mad that when I bought the mission,
it was to get 50HS til the 30th..
Not 20…Or 16 if you count the 4 because my sold oxen did not all register…
I finished the missions the 1st time which was by the 14th and read somewhere i had to get the 50HS from the lodge , then it said we can repeat them again to get 20 or 50 more HS ..goin by this message (We hear you loud and clear! We are restoring the original 50 Horseshoes for completing the New Years Resolution missions by Jan. 31st.) .. i just finished it for the 2nd time but this time when i go to the lodge it did not give me the HS
TOOLS are required to build sextants BUT can not buy them,earn them. put them on wishlist, i am on my second time through because I got all the animals twice and now am stuck because of stupid tools.
Same as Carl, finished them on the 13th got my horseshoes and now i finished them a second time but nothing
. I hope I will still get them because for me it’s the only way to get a lot of horseshoes as i refuse to pay for them!
I am having trouble to request for things. Whenever I click “ask friend”, nothing appears. Please help Zynga…or else I will not be able 2 finish my mission.
I am having trouble also with the retired oxen not registering,or getting any older. It takes 17 hours to feed them again which will be past the deadline, which is unfair. And I will not purchase any hs either.
