Well, friends, it’s always hard to say it and to take such a decision, but it has to be taken: for some time now I have been thinking about quitting FrontierVille and stopping to blog about it and that time has finally come right now. It’s a sad day because I have some great memories connected to this blog and I have lived some great moments in FrontierVille itself and met some great new friends, but it’s time to move on.
Ever since FrontierVille’s name was changed into Pioneer Trail, things started to go down for the game and the interest people had in this game started to fade away. Pretty soon, the missions were too difficult because they asked from us too items and at some points it all was too frustrating instead of fun. Part of this was because people kept quitting the game and Zynga didn’t tune down the requirements. They did now, but it still is frustrating for many.
Unfortunately, just like many of you, I got bored. It’s nobody’s particular fault actually, it’s probably just the nature of social games – and FrontierVille was a great game, a game that was different when it launched, was original and had a ton of ideas, but somehow managed to lose. And I am sad that happened.
But, sad or not, it’s time to call it quits. The truth is that this blog is hardly helping anybody anymore – there are very few people visiting it daily, just several hundred – and the traffic keeps going down. And we all know that one important aspect of blogging is to have an audience. Without it, I can’t find the motivation to keep playing the game and keep writing and spending hours of my free time trying to help. It just isn’t worth it anymore.
But it’s been an amazing 2 years – probably the best years of my life and this blog, as well as FrontierVille have taught me a lot. I want to thank you all for being here for such a long time – especially to those who are here since the beginning and I hope that you will understand and excuse my decision to call it quits. It is the right thing to do.
Bye bye and have fun!

Thank you for all the work you’ve put into keeping us informed. Truth is, i’m probably not too far from calling it quits myself. Pioneer Trail has too many glitches/bugs and Zynga is so unresponsiveness regarding what the dedicated players are communicating to them. I’m starting to feel like if Zynga doesn’t care…why should I? But, anyway, I just wanted to share my gratitude for your help in the game. Good luck to you!
I completely understand your reasons for leaving, although I will miss you and all the help you have provided to us all. You articles were always informative, with a little humor thrown in to keep things interesting. I too am tired of the game. I have been trying to hang in there, but it lost it’s fun quite a while ago. I think I will ride off into the sunset with you. Goodbye and thanks for all your hard work! You’re the best!
Thank you for your dedication; you will be missed.
Your blog was was like the old-fashioned map we use to navigate our way through our journey when our GPS can’t get a signal!
You are so right the game has become boring. I believe Zynga has been un-supportive and sending the signal “why don’t you all go away or at least to another game.”
May you be successful in your next adventure.
Thank you so much for your kind words!
thanks for your help…..you are right……I’m hanging on to the game by a thread as played it since it started but all these games/carnival/animal missions are boring and impossible….enjoy which ever new game piques your interest
Thank you for all the hard work you put into this blog. it is sad to see you go but I totally understand. I had quit frontierville a little more than a month ago and went into it the other day and looked around and got right back out. way to much work and like you said not fun any more. I have played since it first started and was sad at first when I stopped but have moved on now. Good luck to you in your next adventure and who knows maybe you will play another game that we can visit your blog on. Thank You and Good bye
I totally understand the situation. In the beginning, I would check your blog everyday, trying to keep up with the quests. I wanted to know what the next steps of a quest were, so I could prepare in advance. But now… what’s the point, the only thing I ever have to prepare is asking stuff to my neighbours… In every quest I have, everything is done (the harvesting crops, the feeding animals, the crafting things, ..) but I lack the materials you have to ask for. I think I have about 30 quest like that open now, what’s the fun in that?? I admit, I haven’t checked your blog in a while because of that.
I hope you have fun in your next project. Are you keeping us updated if you ever have a blog again? Good luck with everything!
Thank you. I always appreciated it very much when you could give me a clear picture of missions I had trouble understanding and planning.
Sadly, I must admit, at one point I also got bored. I did my missions, but I just did them one by one, and really… Why look forward to the next one if you know you can’t finish the current one for several days or a week. The game sucks.
Again, thank you and maybe you’ll find another nice game. If so, let us know and keep us updated about it!
I wanted to say thanks for all your efforts to keep us up with the game as it exploded from a fun game into a money making venture. With no more than 10 active neighbours, I managed to keep up with my missions for over a year and reached level 100 and now at level 180 I have over 3 pages of missions backed up plus buildings I can’t finish on the homstead. Do I want to pay for special membership for missions when I reach level 200 LOL! I played the game for two years but really can’t see the point anymore. Too much hard work.
Thanks again and enjoy your new ventures.
So sorry to hear won’t be a blogging but I completely understand. I have quit a couple of times, only to come back but it’s more of a chore than fun these days. We will miss you! Thanks for all the help you have given over the years.
I definitely understand your frustration and am pretty much at the end of the trail right along with you. Your blog has been amazing and full of so much information. You have helped me tremendously with your emails and posts in game play. You will be sorely missed and I hope that we will run across each other one day soon. Thank you for all you have done for the players since it began and Good luck in your future endeavors.
Thank for your your time and effort in blogging these past two years. I always checked your blog for details of the coming quests in the beginning. I made the decision to stop playing last week. I feel as though a huge burden has been lifted. The game stopped being fun, and just become a beg-your-neighbor game. You are right; it was different in the beginning, but devolved into the boring. Enjoy your new free time; I know I am.
Hi
I appreciated your blog and used to refer to it when I was doing the wiki site for the game
I like you found the missions etc a massive tasks and eventually stopped playing
Thanks again
So sad to see another one bite the dust, especially such an important player. I have played since it came out, and have given up on the game ever being what it was in the beginning. You are exactly right, when it was called Frontierville it was fun. When they changed the name to Pioneer Trail it started all going downhill. Like someone said Zynga has turned a game I used to love into a money making machine. They are not concerned with what their players want anymore, all they want is more way to turn a profit….which is evident in the fact that they have begun totally ignoring support requests from their players. And do I want to pay $20 a month?…not if they’re gonna keep it on Facebook. If they would actually open their own servers, then yeah I would pay because it would solve a lot of the lag and glitching problems. I wish that they would listen to the complaints of the majority of Frontierville players and either tone down the ridiculous amount of missions, or give us more than 50 request helping slots. As of now most of us have to post 30 requests when we log in, and we know we’ll be lucky to get clicks on half of those, because to be fair to our neighbors we have to space out our helping clicks. I have personally given up on the missions altogether and just focus on posting building parts. For me it is more enjoyable to not worry about leveling up, and such, and just tend my animals or crops. At this point in the game the amount of new buildings, missions, side quests (such as the fairgrounds, and helping Ted), bulls, sheep, etc is more than even the most dedicated player can handle. The whole thing is in insane mode and Zynga will be lucky in the end to keep any of their frontier players. So sad to see a good thing go down the drain. But all complaining aside: THANK YOU for spending SO much time on this page. It has been SOOOO helpful in these past years, and I will greatly miss it! I hope you enjoy the other games that you get in to and thank you again!!!
