So, you’re one of the thousands of players enraged by Zynga’s requirements for completing the Canning Master mission series? You are afraid that you will lose all of your food supplies completing the new series of missions? Well, you don’t really have to complete the new series and therefore you can save your food!
This great idea comes from Brandy Shaul of the Games.com blog who found the easiest solution not to complete the first mission: it’s requirements are to have 5,000 food (which you will eventually have and there’s not much to do about this), harvest 50 tomatoes and have 3 butter.
The last two requirements can make the difference here: you don’t really have to harvest tomatoes, so you can not plant them at all and you will never finish the first mission! Even more, if you want to play it safer, you can keep the number of Butter under control: the item is part of the Cow Collection, so you can trade in as many collections as you have to reduce the number of Butter, and if you still have too much, you can send the extra ones to your neighbors: preferably not active ones, not to mess up their game either.
There would also be the option to spend all your food to purchase lunches and dinners in the game, but this is really risky since eventually Zynga might make this mission series a must complete (by unlocking other missions only after we complete this one). Or, even better, they could listen to our demands and lower the requirements. A LOT!

Don’t quite understand the problem.
170 k foog will be atleast used up, and people will start growing food again and tending/selling animal rather then planting roses for XP and leveling up.
This will only work if the mission goes away. At some point we will have to grow tomatoes or feed cows which will automatically progress you on the mission.
some mission will have similar requirement ie harvest apples/tomatoes. so we will be completing the stage 2 of 4 today or tomorrow)… but we can choose not to proceed with 3rd stage… where it ask us to collect 30 canning jars from friends
Zynga can BITE me – I wont complete this mission now or in the future. I will help neighbours as I can and gift lunches daily. The reward for this mission is ridiculous – a few horse shoes and an experience book. PLEASE – keep them.
I made the decision the day rumours started about this mission to boycott it and ive sent 4 suggestions to zynga to change this mission i think if we all pull together and constantly email them they might get the hint!
I deleted all my tomatoe crops. I sent all butter to friends. No canning mission.
Would not have a problem if they request a total of 15000 food but everything above tht is ridiculous. Wood was another issue. is not needed for anything else anyway. But food is vital for energy.
Doesn’t make fun any more
Why doesn’t someone start a “cause” about it? They seem to work with Zynga. It could be sent to all Fronterville friends.
I think we need a Petition!
No doubt we will all be tricked into completing the first 2 stages of these Missions which means you can kiss 20,000 food good-bye. But we can get back control in stage 3 but not requesting those canning jars. However, one should keep in mind, this also means that you should not help out your neighbours when you see their request for canning jars. Help them and you are going to start to collect the jars.
I requested Support to remove the Mission from my account. Actually surprised how quick they responded and of course the answer being, they can’t remove the Mission. So we will just have to be extra careful not to accidently do tasks that will complete it automatically.
I’m guessing Zynga will insist this mission be completed even if they give away the cans/jars. If they would tell players why so much food taken, they would have a lot less ticked off players. They just don’t communicate with players which is a pathetic way to treat customers.
Bottomline, players still hold alot of cards. If all this gets to be too much, block the game, take a walk around the block, have a couple refreshing drinks and forget the game ever existed. If one must play there are other games available.
I wonder..I have not clicked on the mission…do you have to click on it to start the stupid ball rolling on this..or do they just take your stuff anyway?
if they make this as part of a series of missions I am out of there…I started playing for fun and relaxation…not to be stress by zynga!!
15000 food is ridiculous! but I still cannot get grass to grow to complete the expansion. Still waiting for foxes too. the last 2 times i fed the geese…no foxes at all…just waiting and wondering what is the point if they plan to take all our food
Suzanne… glad Im not alone, I cant get grass to grow either
For those that feel they can stop this crazy Mission at stage 3 by not requesting the canning jars I have found out this info for you. Make sure you check your Inventory now! Obviously a previous Mission we did also used those canning jars. I was surprised to find in my Inventory I almost had enough canning jars that would have automatically finished the Mission and stole all my food. Fortunately I was able to go to the Trading Post and get rid of all those jars in time.
How do we complain to Zynga about this mission? Maybe enough people sent something it would magically disappear just like it magically appeared. Or at least have different requirements. Is our only option to all quit playing?
You can’t do anything about getting rid of this Mission, I have tried and been told by Zynga support they are unable to remove it. Also when you complain on the Forum and even mention about going to CS (Customer Service) they will remove your post and send you a warning. Obviously they don’t want anymore discussion about this Mission and have become down right nasty. The only option is to quit playing or be very careful on what you do to ensure that you don’t accidently complete parts of the Mission.
I am on part II of this misson and refuse to plant the tomatoes OR harvest that many apple trees… I am only level 58. not far enough along to have gathered up that much food already.
Some of the missions, such as this one, are just beyond ridiculous. A group of us and most of my neighbors are trying to gather a large group of people that will agree to go on “strike” for one day. Currently we are hoping to do it this Saturday the 9th. All of us sending mail to Zynga support telling them what we are doing and why.
I am sure that Zynga monitors the flow of people playing their games at any given time and would notice a HUGE chunk of people all not playing onthe same day. Especially if we mail them ahead of time and let them know what we are doing.
Somewhere on this post I believe I read something along the line of the players still hold a few cards. In fact, don’t the players still hold ALL the cards? Without players what would be the point in creating or keeping on with the game???
We are not asking for EASY things, just fair… and things that don’t either force you to HAVE to buy horseshoes or go days and days and days to complete missions which makes (me at least) loose interest in the game fast…
Anyone else that agrees to do the strike please speak up… we can still change the date we will do it at this point.
on 37×37 you have to clear 30 grass i would like to know were is the grass i do not get any on my land i just get flowers trees so were is the grass so i can get my land ?
I sent an email to zynga asking how to opt out of the mission. They disabled it for me and it is no longer in my missions. I was also told that if I ever want it again it could be re-enabled.
What if Zynga would just allow us to gift food? Why not….I could use food not hay bales?
????
**actual conversation this morning with a game rep….lord this is NOT this serious!:
Thank you for playing Zynga games. A representative will be with you shortly.
You are now chatting with ‘Mylene G.’
Lynne: hello…Would you please remove the canning mission icon from my page? I did the 1st 3 levels not realizing it was going to eat up (and more) the food I have accumulated for months. I do not wish to finish it and I need it stopped so I do not eventually meet the requirements that will take all food. Thank you.
Mylene G.: Unfortunately I cannot do that
Lynne: and why would that be?
Mylene G.: Because it is part of the Gameplay.
Lynne: I dont believe that is true…I have had things changed before and I know this is a huge problem with many people. It will cause me to leave the game
Mylene G.: Like what changes?
Lynne: That isnt pertinent to the issue and Im sure you could check my previous emails to find that out…I simply want the mission removed from my game
Mylene G.: As I have said that cannot be done
Lynne: very well…before leaving the game I will be happy to post this on the websites of people complaining about this mission…because yes…it CAN be done
Mylene G.: I know.
Mylene G.: If that is your decision, then we do respect that
Lynne: good day
God everyone needs to stop whining just do the mission or don’t stop B**thing about it and get over it…. its not that bad of a mission …. some ppl like me at lvl 81 like a good challenging mission…. all the missions are too easy if you a high lvl so its nice to see zynga think of the high level players now and then….if you dont wanna do it then dont it doesnt take a friggin genius to not complete a mission lol
i on a mission at the minute that wants me 2 collect 50000 food been doin it 4 like a week n only on 24,000 is this the mission u guys r talkin bout???
It’s all work the book of experiance in the end, when U need a million to level up at 100
@Miss Hockey…. You need in total 1mill Xp to get to level 100, that doesnt mean you need 1mill xp between levels 99 and 100
don’t forget that if you’re trying to not collect the canning jars, that you should be careful opening care packages as these will give you the jars needed to complete the requirement. i suppose if you get past the 50,000 mark that you could always halt the progress of the mission by not having/harvesting peppermint bushes.
so i’m stuck with the option of paying the horseshoes to advance, or keep feeding those birds and geese and waiting it out. but if it’s not something like that, reading on here about upcoming requirements has seemed to help. i know that’s not much help,…:::shrug::::
and to the people having trouble with the expansion missions still, i have noticed that before you get the requirement for a mission, or complete it for that matter, (ie: the grass) that you usually have all you need on your homestead. which is not helpful at all, and unsporting of zynga if you ask me. the only way around this i have found is to find out what a requirement is in advance, and have that ready before i actually get the mission (ie: for the grass i kept 30 grass on my homestead, because i read on here that i would need that, and once i got the mission i was able to complete it without worrying about waiting for it to grow). but for some things there is no preparing. i’m stuck on the foxes at the moment. before i got the mission every time i fed my chickens, or collected a bonus from my coop, i would get a fox. now that i have it, they hardly ever show up
Only advantage I’ve found in the canning mission is to use a horseshoe to complete the food part when you get close (14850/15000 or 49900/50000 etc). Thus keeping all my food. Obviously didn’t work for the first two as I had it completed already. But what I don’t follow is how are casual players meant to finish this. My cousin has played a year (level 59), and has 6200 food total since she isn’t a daily player, ends up using food for energy to clear the debris that settles all over the place. I follow that this mission was probably put out there to clear down the food levels of a few players who managed to gather quite a bit. But with the horseshoe ‘trick’ we keep our 100k food anyhow and it wasn’t actually a sink. I like they’ve given us ‘difficult’ missions in the past. The 1500 peanuts was lengthy! But in some people’s cases, mostly casual players, they will NEVER get 100k food unless something changes drastically.
if you think 15000 food was rough just wait it gets worse 50,000 food then you can scream cuss stump your feet pull out your hair and zynga dont care good luck folks
@Melody….even a casual player can do this all ya need to do is clear your frontier and buy as many oxen as possible….took me a week to get 70,000+ food and you only need to stop by once a day to feed the oxen its simple i dont understand why so many ppl are so crazy over this mission i completed it in a week once i took the time to do the math and maximize my profits
this mission is ridiclous and freakin hard as crap. i have been on level 3 4ever and heard level 4 of it requires 100000 food what in the world is zaynga thinkin.
I guess Zynga must be hungry
well i just completed the 100,000 food part of this mission using the horseshoe tip (thank you melody) it ended up costing me 1 horseshoe and i got to keep my 100,000 food
It is becoming more and more difficult to avoid completing the goals, since many of the new missions require the same tasks.. I’m on the one with fire/apples/15000 food and now there are a bunch of new missions getting me to harvest apples! As soon as I get 15 fires, half my food will be gone. The only option is asking them to remove it. If that’s what it takes.. It’s nice that there are a lot of people who like this quest, but considering there are so many that are adamantly against it, they should at least give an option to get rid of it. I know I’m not alone in feeling that this kind of thing is enough to make you want to quit. Now with a new building every other day, no expansions, and more crap that is the same as Farmville, I’m thinking of quitting anyways.
I am 1500 foods away from completing the 50000 foods part of the mission, when it dawned on me …. the closer you get to completing this task the smaller the amount of horseshoes it takes to unlock, and from previous missions im expecting that by the time i reach 49950 foods it should take 2-3 horseshoes to unlock this mission meaning i get to keep my 50000 food towards the 100k foods, and as im almost complete on that i shall unlock with a few horseshoes (gained by levelling up collecting all this food) leaving me with the mission complete AND 100k food in the stash! all i have to do is carefully add the amounts of foods im adding as i get closer to my total so as to not go over the target
– oh and the reward for doing the 100k food is a measly 7 horseshoes and a level up token, BUT it should replace the horseshoes spent completing the mission
@Idea…..man your sooooo behind…everyone figured out that “trick” 2months ago lol
The canning mission SUCKES!!! I lost all my pie it took me over A year to collect that. I will Quit the game If It Isn’t returned back to me. It Is way to hard to try to collect that again I will not go through that again having to beg for energy all of the time just to work on my frontier. So fix It or loose alot of people Including ME!!!!
